The New York Yankees came within one out of recording their third consecutive shutout victory—a milestone the franchise hasn't reached since the days of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in 1962. Max Fried delivered eight scoreless frames before Brent Headrick surrendered a two-out RBI single in the ninth to end the bid.

Nevertheless, the 4-0 victory extended the Yankees' winning streak to five games, matching their longest of the season. The pitching staff has now held opponents to zero or one run in four of their last five outings.

This dominant stretch signals that New York's pitching depth is the real deal as they chase another AL East crown.
